Adventure

Thankfully, the Pontiac eventually went the way of the dodo and dinosaurs, but the damage was done.  Mike was addicted to cars.  After putting so much work into a piece of junk for so many years, he wanted to work on respectable cars.  Oh, and after driving a piece of junk for so long, he wanted to drive something he could be proud of.

So, the summer after he graduated, he enrolled in an auto mechanics program at community college.  After the summer session, one of his teachers helped him get a job at a local car and truck accessories shop, and that was the only in he needed to begin a new phase in life.

Several years of claustrophobia in the Pontiac had instilled in Mike a desire for a truck.  Not just any truck, though, he wanted something classic.  He quickly struck up a friendship with one of the managers at the shop, who explained to him that old trucks are hard to work on, especially for somebody with little experience; not to mention, they are expensive, even in bad shape.  What he could do for Mike, though, was hook him up with an El Camino.  It would be in awful shape, but it would be affordable and a little bit less ambitious than a truck.

It wasn’t exactly what he wanted, but I talked him into it, rationalizing that El Caminos are one of the coolest cars ever made, and if he put his mind to it, he could still do a lot of the same things to it, he would to a truck-he could probably even put a truck rack on it, if he was so inclined; not to mention, chrome accessories look much better on an El Camino than an old truck.

Bed Liners Allow a Truck to be a Truck

Bed liners allow you to get full use of your truck without worrying about scratches, dents, and rusting metal.

Let’s face it. A truck has a purpose other than serving as a beautiful work of art. A truck is designed for hauling stuff, whether it is moving boxes, tools, motorcycles, or other outdoor toys. Bed liners give you the freedom to let your truck be a truck. They give you the freedom to load and unload as you see fit - whether you are tossing fresh-cut logs into the bed or transporting your favorite toy. No matter what truck accessories you may need, you can find them all at BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com. Find the right price on bed liners, bull bars, mud flaps, and toolboxes - everything you need to turn your truck into a working machine, all the while protecting your investment. Trucks are made to work and play hard. With the right accessories, you can do both without the worries of repairing and painting. Whether your favorite toy is a motorcycle, mountain bike, fishing equipment, or skis, you can haul it with the same peace of mind that your favorite activity gives you. My Summer Fling

Years ago, when I was still in college, I had a summer fling with the contractor that was doing some work on one of my employers’ houses.  Throughout most of college, I babysat and did odd jobs for different employers.  This woman was an older woman with no kids — I’d met her once by babysitting for her cousins at her daughter’s wedding, and after that she started hiring me to do odd things around her house, such as organizing her computer files and doing her grocery shopping.

She was also having some work done in her house, which is how I met Steve, her contractor.  He drove a Toyota truck with truck accessories such as a ladder rack and a headache rack, so he certainly looked the part of a contractor, but I later found out that he was also something of an artsy guy with an acting degree and a recently-left desk job as the city’s summer event planner.

We dated for the summer, but Steve was 10 years older than me and made it pretty clear that he intended to remain a bachelor forever.  As a result, our relationship ended later that fall.  I learned something valuable with that relationship — don’t waste time on guys who are more interested in truck accessories, because there are plenty other who would be!
