It is quite common to get lost on the Internet. Many surfers find themselves searching for one topic and finding – hours later – that they’re reading about something totally different than what brought them online to begin with.

There are factual sites, joke sites, chat sites, recipe sites…the list can go on and on. But what makes a site buzz? What makes one site get millions of hits and another site sit in the dark?

Sometimes it is content, and others do a great job at Internet marketing. The more you surf, the more you learn to spot a site that "buzzes" and a site that is just a glorified ad.

It is important to remember that just because something is posted on a site, having it posted there does not mean that the content is true. There are some sites that let you check for factual content. It is worth the time to check some of the more sensational stories out before taking them for the truth.
